A server may send the first WebSocket frame in the same TCP segment as the 101 Switching Protocols response. The client discarded whatever arrived alongside the handshake, so that frame was lost — silently, as a stream that never delivers rather than as an error.

Load-bearing for Slate's Enclave remote transport (identity track P3r): without it the browser-to-Enclave-to-node relay drops frames and presents as a flaky or dead stream, with nothing pointing at the transport.
