Bureau

An MCP server that gives AI assistants access to your Fastmail email and calendar. Built with Sigil.

Installation

sigil app install codeberg:sigil/bureau \

This builds Bureau from source, installs it, and registers it as an MCP server in Claude Code automatically.

By default the server is registered globally (in ~/.claude.json). To install it for only the current project instead:

This writes the server entry to the project's .mcp.json.

Fastmail Credentials

Bureau requires two separate Fastmail credentials — an API token for email (JMAP) and an app password for calendar (CalDAV):

Log in to Fastmail
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Integrations
Under API tokens, create a token with Mail access — this is your BUREAU_FASTMAIL_API_TOKEN
Under App passwords, create a password with Calendars access — this is your BUREAU_FASTMAIL_APP_PASSWORD

What It Does

Bureau provides 19 MCP tools that let an AI assistant:

Search and read email — query by sender, subject, date, text content
Send and reply to email — with proper threading headers
Manage email — archive, trash, flag, mark read/unread, move between folders
View calendar events — query by date range, get full details
Create and modify events — schedule meetings, update details, delete events
Find free time — analyze your calendar to find available slots

Manual Setup

If not using sigil app, you can build and configure manually:
